How do you decaffeinate your matcha, and is it natural?
We use a 100% natural, chemical-free decaffeination process. Through our patented water absorption technique, we gently remove caffeine while preserving matcha's powerful catechins and tannins. This ensures you get a pure, natural product with all the health benefits of matcha intact.
How much caffeine is in decaf matcha?
A small amount remains after processing. Typically 7-9 mg per 2 g serving. For comparison, regular matcha has 60-80 mg and a cup of decaf coffee has around 2-7 mg. It's as close to caffeine-free as matcha gets.
Does decaf matcha still have health benefits?
Yes. Our gentle water process preserves matcha's natural polyphenols including EGCG and other catechins, while maintaining its naturally occurring amino acids, and removing most of the caffeine.
Is decaf matcha safe during pregnancy?
At 7-9 mg of caffeine per serving, decaf matcha falls well within the 200 mg daily limit recommended by ACOG for pregnant women. As always, check with your healthcare provider before making any changes during pregnancy.
Does Caff Off look or taste different from regular matcha?
A small shift in chlorophyll gives Caff Off a softer green than regular matcha. The taste stays smooth, lightly sweet and never bitter.
What's the difference between decaf matcha and hojicha?
They're two completely different drinks. Hojicha is roasted green tea with a nutty, caramel flavour. It's not matcha. Decaf matcha gives you the same grassy, creamy matcha taste you know, just with almost no caffeine.
